It was a busy Friday for the Milwaukee Brewers, as it was the deadline to decide on 18 arbitration eligible players.

These decisions have a huge impact on what the Brewers roster will look like next year. Let’s take a look at what happened to each player and what this means for the Brewers.

Milwaukee Brewers Tendered Contracts for Next Season

  • Willy Adames
  • Mike Brosseau
  • Corbin Burnes
  • Victor Caratini
  • Keston Hiura
  • Eric Lauer
  • Hoby Milner
  • Hunter Renfroe
  • Rowdy Tellez
  • Luis Urías
  • Devin Williams
  • Brandon Woodruff

All of these players will be returning to the Crew next year. There is no real surprise from this list. as all of these players had significant contributions to the team last year.

These players’ salaries are still to be determined, as both the players and the team will meet to negotiate their salaries. Keep your eyes open for news on their salaries in the coming months.

One-Year Deals

  • Matt Bush
  • Adrian Houser

Both Bush and Houser will be returning to the Crew on one-year contracts. Bush signed a one-year, $1.85 million deal to avoid arbitration, while Houser signed a $3.6 million deal.

This is respectable value for both deals. Bush showed promise with his high spin rates and strikeout capabilities, but simply got hit hard too often. Houser has been a reliable back-of-the-rotation starter for a couple years who will hope his numbers resort more towards his 2021 season.

Non-Tendered

  • Trevor Gott
  • Jandel Gustave
  • Luis Perdomo

These players will not be returning to the Milwaukee Brewers next year and are now immediately free agents. The fax that none of these players are returning doesn’t come as a surprise, as they all were fairly underwhelming over the course of the season. We will have to wait and see where these players end up.

Waived and Claimed

  • Brent Suter

Brent Suter was waived and claimed by the Colorado Rockies, signing a $3 million one-year deal with Colorado. It will be extremely tough to see Suter go, who was the longest tenured Brewer prior to this move. Suter spent the past seven years with the Brewers, paving himself a respectable big league career thus far. Suter has been a fan favorite for years with his bright personality and clubhouse shenanigans. He will be missed in Milwaukee.

The Brewers roster now stands at 36 players, leaving room for four players that could be acquired via trade or free agency. More news about how they will fill these spots should come in the coming months, so we will have to see how the Brewers and Matt Arnold try and improve the roster.
