Packers list 17 players on injury report ahead of Dallas Cowboys’ game
The Green Bay Packers are in a world of hurt- literally and figuratively- as they listed a whopping 17 players on their initial injury report ahead of their game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Green Bay entered last week’s game on a four-game losing streak and were optimistic they could snap it against the lowly Detroit Lions. Many things didn’t go their way and the number of injuries key players sustained was one of the major factors.
In that game alone, the Packers lost Aaron Jones, Rashan Gary, Jon Runyan, Romeo Doubs, David Bakhtiari, Krys Barnes, Eric Stokes and Christian Watson at various points. Now, their injury report is longer than the to-do list my wife leaves me on the weekends.
The Green Bay Packers have a major problem on their hand as they had 17 players on their first injury report ahead of their game against the Cowboys.
The Packers listed 17 players on Wednesday’s injury report. Aaron Rodgers (right thumb), David Bakhtiari (knee), Krys Barnes (concussion), De’Vondre Campbell (knee), Romeo Doubs (ankle), Rashan Gary (knee), Shemar Jean-Charles (ankle), Elgton Jenkins (knee), Eric Stokes (ankle/knee) and Sammy Watkins (knee) did not practice. We can safely rule out Doubs, Gary and Stokes for this week’s game. We’ll see about the rest.
Preston Smith (neck), Jon Runyan (knee), Allen Lazard (shoulder), Aaron Jones (ankle), Rasul Douglas (calf), and Mason Crosby (back) were limited participants. Jones is one to keep an eye on. He left last Sunday’s game and it looked like it could be serious. After X-rays were initially inconclusive, further testing revealed there was no structural damage.
Crosby is a surprise, but it explains why the Packers worked out two kickers earlier this week. I’d expect Runayan, Lazard and Douglas to play next week. We’ll see about Smith.
Practices on Thursday and Friday will give us a better idea about who will be available. For now, it doesn’t look good at all. The Packers are riding a five-game losing streak into the most difficult part of their schedule. That starts with a game against Mike McCarthy and the Dallas Cowboys. Injuries might’ve just made the Packers’ already sinking ship sink faster.
