Milwaukee Bucks’ notebook: DeMarre Carroll, Jordan Clarkson and Jae Crowder
The Milwaukee Bucks have tipped-off training camp and have their first preseason game right around the corner (Saturday, October 1st). With media day wrapped up and the season getting closer, let’s check in on some rumors and notes.
Joe Ingles injury update: Ingles tore his ACL last season and had surgery in February to repair it, but a timeline for his return hasn’t exactly been clear (in true Bucks fashion). However, general manager Jon Horst may have shed some light on the topic when he spoke at media day, saying Ingles should be back sometime in December or January.
Khris Middleton injury update: Middleton also had offseason surgery on his arm and has been progressing in his return to the court. He didn’t have his cast on at media day, but said he hasn’t been able to do basketball-related activities. He will be out for the season-opener, but will return “early in the season.”
What role will DeMarre Carroll play on the Milwaukee Bucks’ coaching staff? Plus, looks at trade rumors around Jordan Clarkson and Jae Crowder.
Demarre Carroll: Carroll was brought in by Mike Budenholzer as an assistant coach this year. He played under Bud in Atlanta in 2013-14 and 2014-15 and has played 11 years in the NBA. It’s that experience as a three-and-D wing the Bucks will utilize in his work with MarJon Beauchamp and Jordan Nwora.
Jordan Clarkson: The Bucks “showed a lot of interest” in Utah’s Jordan Clarkson according to The Athletic’s Tony Jones. Jones went on to say Milwaukee would’ve had to include George Hill in any deal and the Jazz didn’t want any part of that. Hill is coming off the worst season of his career, a major injury, and is 36-years-old. It’s understandable why that wouldn’t appease Utah’s trade demands.
Jae Crowder: Another trade candidate the Bucks’ are rumored to be interested in is Jae Crowder. Crowder and the Suns appear to be going their separate ways and he would fit a need on the Bucks. I talked about Milwaukee’s very limited path to a trade that you can read here or in the button above. Crowder would be a great fit, but a difficult trade match with the Suns.
