Packers off to a slow start: Adrian Amos

PFF has not been friendly to either Packers’ safety to begin the year (Spoiler: more on the other safety next).

Amos has been billed as an underrated player for most of his career and is picking the worst time to play his worst ball, considering his unrestricted free agent status after the season. Most of his slow start is due to the abysmal performance against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1 when he allowed three receptions for 47 yards and two touchdowns while also missing two tackles.

Green Bay needs Amos to step up and improve his communication moving forward. If defensive coordinator Joe Barry is going to sit back in a passive zone–and all signs point toward him continuing to do so–Amos and the rest of the secondary need to talk to one another. That’s easier than it sounds, but is a key ingredient to the defense’s success.
