The Green Bay Packers got into the win column in the 2022 NFL season thanks to a Week 2 victory over the Chicago Bears.

Despite the 27-10 score, Aaron Rodgers and company aren’t completely satisfied with their victory. They know they have to clean up their play in several areas if they want to become the championship contender they know they can be.

Still, a victory is a victory. And it’s always nice to beat your division rival in front of your home crowd and a national television audience. Here are the winners and losers from the Packers’ week 2 victory over the Bears.

This week, the Green Bay Packers captured a must-win victory over the Chicago Bears, as their defense flexed its muscles.

Winner: Aaron Jones

Packers’ head coach Matt LaFleur talked about needing to get Aaron Jones the ball more after a light Week 1 showing. And he followed through on that promise. Jones had 15 carries for 132 yards and three more receptions for 38 yards. Overall, he had 18 touches for 170 yards and two touchdowns (one on the ground and one through the air). He was explosive and made plenty of defenders miss, reminding everyone this is still his backfield.

Loser: Green Bay’s running defense

Green Bay’s running defense was subpar for the second consecutive week. After allowing 128 rushing yards to the Vikings, they gave up a whopping 180 to the Bears. David Montgomery was the man for Chicago, as he carried the rock 15 times for 122 yards (an 8.1 yards per carry average). The defensive line was supposed to be vastly improved with the additions of Jarran Reed and Devonte Wyatt, however, they’ve struggled mightily to kick off the season.

Winner: All Packers’ receivers

Rodgers doesn’t have a number one receiver and maybe he doesn’t need one. He spread the wealth on Sunday Night, as eight different receivers had between two-to-four targets. Watkins led the team in receiving yards with 93, but four players had three receptions (Watkins, Jones, Randall Cobb, and Christian Watson). Rodgers will likely continue to spread the ball around as he’s building chemistry with his new receivers.

Winner: Packers’ pass rush

Bears’ quarterback Justin Fields can be hard to bring down in the open field. Green Bay’s pass rush needed to be disciplined, keep him in the pocket, and collapse the pocket simultaneously. That’s no easy task, but they accomplished it. Preston Smith had two sacks and Rashan Gary added another to go along with five quarterback hits.

Loser: Da Bears

It continues to remain true that Rodgers owns the Bears. Chicago came into the night riding high after a Week 1 victory over the San Francisco 49ers. However, the Packers reminded them who owns this rivalry and put the Bears in their place. Despite a new coach, it’s the same old results for Da Bears.
