Elgton Jenkins and Allen Lazard provide Packers with some juice

Elgton Jenkins played in his first game since Week 11 of the 2021 season following an ACL injury. Early on, you could tell that, understandably so, there was some rust to shake off. Overall, this was far from Jenkins’ best performance.

However, while there are certainly areas of his game to clean up, Rodgers would call tonight an absolute success for Jenkins. Meanwhile, LaFleur, unprompted, told reporters that he doesn’t believe the Packers win this game without Jenkins in the lineup.

As a team, the Packers gained 203 rushing yards and averaged 5.3 yards per carry with Jones and Dillon running confidently and aggressively toward where the running lanes were meant to be. There was also an added comfortability that Rodgers appeared to have maneuvering the pocket, unlike what we saw last week. Perhaps that was from knowing that Jenkins was at right tackle.

Lazard also made his season debut after battling an ankle injury. He didn’t fill up the stat sheet by any means, with only two receptions for 13 yards and a touchdown, but his impact was felt right away.

On the opening drive, Lazard came up with a big third-down conversion that extended the drive, which ultimately led to points via field goal. He also could have had another touchdown catch with a better-placed ball by Rodgers. Lazard then threw a key block that helped spring Jones on his first touchdown run. And, of course, he had the touchdown as well.

This Green Bay Packers offense looked a lot better in Week 2, and having Jenkins and Lazard back were two big reasons why.
