Packers playing final season in Green Bay: Aaron Jones

Aaron Jones carries a massive cap hit of $20 million in 2023, meaning the Packers will have to do something with that deal. The best path forward for Green Bay might be to mark him as a post-June 1st cut. That would add $4 million in dead cap, but save them $16 million overall. If they cut him before June 1, it would be $9.5 million in dead cap and $10.4 million in savings.

Jones has been a valued member of the Packers’ backfield and figures to play an even bigger role this year. The Packers’ offense lacks playmakers and Jones will be asked to fill that void. He’ll partner with AJ Dillon in the backfield more than ever before, bu there’s still enough to go around for both of them to eat. He’s also 27-years-old–an elder in the running back world.
