Packers in danger of being cut that would be claimed: Juwann Winfree

The Packers have a conundrum on their hands at the wide receiver position. They have six locks–Allen Lazard, Sammy Watkins, Randall Cobb, Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and Amari Rodgers. They’ll likely keep a seventh, but they will be hard-pressed to go with eight despite many viable options.

Juwann Winfree has been with the Packers for three years and recently received public praise from Aaron Rodgers. A few years ago Rodgers made similar comments about Jake Kumerow and was reportedly upset when Green Bay parted ways with him shortly after. General manager Brian Gutekunst wouldn’t dare do it again…would he?

If Green Bay does waive Winfree, another team may quickly scoop him up. He’s a willing blocker, someone who can play special teams, and has shown some ability to catch the rock. He could develop into a solid no. 4 receiver if all goes well for him.
