5 bold predictions about Packers’ final 53-man roster
The Green Bay Packers are just a few days away from cutting their roster from 80 to 53 players.
That means a lot of tough decisions are on the horizon, as this is one of the NFL’s most challenging aspects of the business side of the NFL. One of those decisions will be about the long-snapper position. Green Bay started training camp with a two-man battle between Jack Coco and Steven Wirtel, but cut Wirtel a few weeks ago.
That opens the door for Coco to walk in as the uncontested long-snapper, right? It may not be that simple. The Packers could get cute with their roster by waiving Jack Coco initially, knowing other teams aren’t going to sign him (and even if they do, they’ll be able to find a similar caliber player on the free agent market). That will allow them to put someone like Dallas Leavitt on the roster, move him to injured reserve, opening up a spot, and re-sign Coco.
The Green Bay Packers must cut their roster down to just 53 players in a few days, so here are some bold predictions about their moves.
That’s just a taste of how crazy this article will get. Here are four more bold predictions.
