Underdogs to make Packers’ roster: Micah Abernathy

The Packers’ have a mess at safety. Starter Darnell Savage went down on Family Night with a hamstring injury and hasn’t returned to practice since, Vernon Scott was injured and released on an injury settlement, and Dallas Leavitt is also dealing with a serious shoulder injury. To make matters worse, Innis Gaines went down on Thursday with a hamstring injury–a muscle that’s been bothering him for parts of training camp.

That left Green Bay extremely thin at the position and opened the door for Micah Abernathy. Abernathy was signed as an injury replacement earlier in training camp and continues to rise on the depth chart. He’s a great athlete who has caught on quickly with the Packers’ defense. Don’t be surprised to see him make the roster.
