Packers with bright futures: TJ Slaton

With all eyes on first-round draft pick Devonte Wyatt on the defensive line, it’s actually been another young defensive tackle who has stepped up: TJ Slaton. Drafted in the fifth round in 2021, Slaton appears to have taken a second-year jump and is currently ahead of Wyatt on the depth chart. He’s been so dominant that Green Bay will probably only keep five defensive linemen on the initial roster.

At 6-foot-4 and 330 pounds, Slaton is a big body that can eat blockers up front. His ability to shut down running lanes will pay enormous dividends for Green Bay’s defense this year. He’s also shown some skills when it comes to rushing the passer. Slaton will be a nice compliment to the other stars up front.
