The Green Bay Packers were victorious in their second preseason game when they took on the New Orleans Saints at Lambeau Field.

Although it wasn’t all unicorns and rainbows for everyone, several Packers stood out with strong performances. Let’s check out four players on the rise after playing well against the Saints.

These four players on the Green Bay Packers had positive performances against the New Orleans Saints and are on the rise.

Packers on the rise: Sal Cannella

Sal Cannella’s rise is partly due to his Friday night performance. He only had one catch, but showed off some nice prowess after it. He made one guy miss before rumbling through another and finishing his run strong. The other part is due to Tyler Davis’s poor performance. Davis has struggled throughout camp and had a drop that led to an interception in the first game. Against the Saints, he fumbled and New Orleans recovered. If Green Bay is going to keep four tight ends, which seems likely, it’s getting harder to ignore Cannella.

Packers on the rise: Pat O’Donnell

The Packers’ special teams did their thing against the Saints and committed plenty of mistakes. However, veteran Pat O’Donnell was solid in the punting department. He put all three of his punts inside the 20 and gave his return team plenty to work with.

Packers on the rise: Tyler Goodson

The battle for RB3 continues to rage. Patrick Taylor started over Tyler Goodson, but Goodson also had his moments. He had 10 attempts for 42 yards including an excellent 15-yarder and another over 10 yards. He’s more of a receiving back so it’s nice to see him get it going on the ground.

Next. Expect Aaron Rodgers' interceptions to skyrocket. dark

Packers on the rise: Jordan Love

The box score once again doesn’t tell the complete story for Jordan Love, but he built on last week’s performance and played even better. He only finished 12-for-24 for 113 yards and one touchdown, but his receivers didn’t help him, dropping four to five passes on the night. Love was more decisive against the Saints, worked his progression, and hit his man with confidence and (mainly accuracy). He had a beautiful deep ball to Romeo Doubs that would’ve boosted his stats big time if Doubs could’ve made the play. It’s good to see Love, who played into the fourth quarter, continue a positive development.
