Who will emerge as the rotational players at edge rusher for the Packers?

This is one of the most crucial positional battles taking place for the Packers at the moment and the one that may be the most up in the air.

There are two rotational roles at edge rusher, which both come with a decent amount of playing time, perhaps even 20 to 25 snaps per game, and from the outside looking in, it’s been difficult to decern who the front-runners are.

Just about every member of the edge rusher unit has had their moments this summer. Early on, La’Darius Hamilton and Tipa Galeai dominated the edge rusher snaps with the second defense–not to mention that Galeai has continued to be a core special teams player on several units.

Jonathan Garvin had some strong performances heading into the San Francisco game. While as of late, Kingsley Enagbare and Kobe Jones have done the same. At Wednesday’s joint practice, it was Enagbare and Jones taking the first snaps with the second team defense.

Edge rusher is one of the most important positions in all of football, and as good as Preston Smith and Rashan Gary have looked, there are just as many question marks about the group behind them. And whoever ends up winning those roles needs to provide a more consistent impact than what last year’s third and fourth edge rushers did.
