Green Bay Packers Post Family Night Roster Prediction

Tight end (4): Marcedes Lewis, Josiah Deguara, Tyler Davis, and Dominique Dafney

PUP List: Robert Tonyan

Previous Prediction: Marcedes Lewis, Josiah Deguara, Tyler Davis, and Dominique Dafney

Just like with Hill, I have Tonyan beginning on PUP–although, obviously, that can change. Without having to include Tonyan, this prediction is an easy one; however, it gets much more challenging when Tonyan returns.

Will the Packers roster five tight ends? If they don’t, my guess is that Dafney is the one on the outside looking in. With that said, I think keeping five is very much in play. Dafney had a strong performance on Family Night; he is a stout blocker and fills a unique role, oftentimes lining up in the backfield–not to mention that he could be a core special teams player.

Offensive line (9): David Bakhtiari, Yosh Nijman, Jon Runyan, Josh Myers, Jake Hanson, Royce Newman, Sean Rhyan, Cole Van Lanen, and Zach Tom

PUP List: Elgton Jenkins

Previous Prediction: David Bakhtiari, Yosh Nijman, Jon Runyan, Josh Myers, Jake Hanson, Royce Newman, Sean Rhyan, Cole Van Lanen, and Zach Tom

Yes, I’m taking the optimistic approach, which is that Bakhtiari will be ready by Week 1–fingers crossed.

For the most part, we know what this unit will look like, although we may not know who the starting five is going to be. Jake Hanson is pretty close to a lock, given his ability to play any of the interior positions, and could very well be the backup option at center. Cole Van Lanen has been taking consistent second-team reps at both guard and tackle. However, he will likely be the odd man out once Jenkins is available.
