Green Bay Packers Edge Rusher La’Darius Hamilton

We know that Rashan Gary and Preston Smith will lead the way at the edge rusher position, but after those two, there are a lot of unknowns. Although the receiver position has drawn much of the attention, in terms of depth, edge rusher may be a bigger concern for Green Bay.

There are potentially three roster spots available, two of which will see steady playing time in rotational roles.

When the second team defense has been on the practice field, we’ve seen Tipa Galeai taking a fair share of those snaps, along with Jonathan Garvin Kingsley Enagbare and Randy Ramsey. However, the constant next to each of those players has been Hamilton.

Hamilton was signed to the 53-man roster last season by Green Bay off of the Tampa Bay practice squad not long after Za’Darius Smith was placed on IR. He would appear in only five games and play just 64 snaps while totaling three pressures.

Whether it be Hamilton or any of the other players mentioned, the Packers need production from their rotational edge rushers. Last season, there was very much a lack of impact plays when Smith and Gary weren’t on the field.
