The Green Bay Packers have wrapped up the first week of training camp with four practices from Wednesday through Saturday and an off-day on Sunday.

That means it’s time to make bold predictions based on what fans and reporters saw in the limited portions available to the public. In all seriousness, this was a starting spot for the team and gives them something to build off moving forward. It wasn’t all rainbows and unicorns, but here are five studs who stood out.

These five players on the Green Bay Packers had a very strong first week of training camp to kick off the regular season preparation.

Defense

The defense dominated every day except for the opening one. They flexed their muscles at all three levels and wasted no time living up to the hype built over the offseason. The front seven dominated against both the run and the pass and the secondary flew all over the field making plays. Green Bay will look for their defense to force more turnovers and set their offense up with short fields this season, and this was a good start.

Rich Bisaccia

According to reporters who have been at the practices, the energy level is palpable on special teams to begin the season. That’s a huge shift from the past and it seems the players are already buying into the changes that need to be made on that unit. The team is also mixing in more starters than normal to increase the intensity level. Rich Bisaccia appears to be on the right track with his units.

Rashan Gary

Rashan Gary is usually more likely to dominate when the pads come on thanks to his brute strength and physicality. However, it’s clear he’s been in the lab this offseason and has some new pass-rushing moves to help him get after the quarterback. He’s constantly in the backfield disrupting the Packers’ passing game and he looks primed to take yet another step this season.

Juwann Winfree

Juwann Winfree hasn’t been getting nearly as much attention as the next guy on this list, but he’s quietly putting together a good start to training camp. It’s going to be a battle up and down the entire depth chart at wide receiver this summer and Winfree must separate himself from the pack if he wants to earn a final roster spot.

Romeo Doubs

Romeo Doubs has been the star of the Packers’ first week of training camp. He stood out from Day 1 and continues to make plays–both routine and splashy–every single practice. The Packers desperately needed someone at the position to stand out with Christian Watson out and Sammy Watkins just returning to individual drills on Saturday. It will be a different ballgame once the pads go on this week and we’ll find out if he can sustain the massive momentum he’s created for himself.
