Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers Rookie WRs

Of course, all eyes will be on how quickly Aaron Rodgers and the rookie receivers can get on the same page.

Throughout the offseason, Rodgers has praised the Packers’ rookies, both for their size as well as the upside that they bring to this team. However, he would also add that while there is potential within this unit, he prefers production.

Right now, Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and Samori Toure need to continue familiarizing themselves with the playbook, which Rodgers mentions that there are two versions of. There is what’s down on paper and then what takes place on the field.

We all know how important it is to build trust with Rodgers, and that begins in practice. These young receivers need to be in the right place at the right time, and when the ball is thrown to them, they need to make sure to catch it. Then there is the added element of any last-second adjustments that come at the line of scrimmage–this is the part of the playbook that takes place on the field, as Rodgers referenced.

Each receiver has a specific role that they can fill right away, specifically Watson and Doubs as downfield threats, along with Watson on gadget plays and Doubs from the slot, but in order for this offense to be at its best, they’ll need each of these players to become reliable targets in high leverage situations.

At the end of the day, we all need to be prepared for both the highs and the lows that come with being a rookie in the NFL because both will be experienced this summer and into the season.

When will we see Christian Watson?

The Green Bay Packers placed nine players on the PUP list on Friday, and Watson was one of them. We don’t know the extent of why he is on there, but the good news is that it shouldn’t be for long.

According to Ross Uglem of Packer Report, Watson’s presence on the PUP list is not considered to be serious or long-term, and he is expected to be available sooner than later.

This, of course, is excellent news. For the reasons mentioned above, these training camp and preseason reps are going to be incredibly valuable for Watson–or any rookie for that matter.
