X-factors for Packers: Darnell Savage

The Packers’ defense already projects to be very good–they have great starters at all three levels and have the potential to dominate opposing offenses this season.

One of the bigger question marks on the team, however, is which version of safety Darnell Savage will they get? Savage was very good over the second half of the 2020 season, but regressed in 2021. Savage could play a versatile role in the Packers’ secondary that could see him lined up in the slot, close to the line of scrimmage, as the deep safety and anywhere in between. He struggled in coverage last year and was exposed on a few occasions. However, if his potential can meet his production, he has the ability to push this defense from good to elite.
