Packers with training camp hype: Quay Walker

After years of failing to prioritize the inside linebacker position, the Packers suddenly doubled up with two potential impact players. First, they re-signed De’Vondre Campbell to a five-year extension after he had a breakout campaign in 2021 and earned All-Pro honors.

That move was a lot lower on the surprise meter, however, than the selection of Quay Walker with the Packers’ first pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Green Bay had other major needs to address, but apparently liked the potential of Walker at inside linebacker, giving them a similar defensive look to the 2020 Tampa Bay Buccaneers squad that won the Super Bowl.

Walker’s speed is extremely impressive and his athleticism will flash on the field. He’ll be able to learn behind Campbell while also getting some valuable reps in real-time.
