1 Big Question for Each Green Bay Packers Player: Quarterbacks

Danny Etling: Will he remain the Green Bay Packers’ third option at quarterback?
This may seem like a silly question to ask considering that Danny Etling is the only other quarterback on the roster. However, entering training camp and the preseason with only three quarterbacks is a little on the light side. For reference, at one point last summer, the Packers had five quarterbacks on the roster.
With an open roster spot after moving on from Kurt Benkert, I still wouldn’t rule out Green Bay adding a fourth quarterback. Between training camp practices and the preseason where Rodgers won’t play, that’s a lot of snaps to be accounted for–unless the Packers intend to have Love taking the bulk of those additional snaps.
Etling is a former seventh-round pick by New England in the 2018 draft after spending his final two years of college at LSU, where he completed 60% of his passes at 8.5 yards per catch with 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions. At the NFL level, Etling has no regular-season snaps.
For what it’s worth, Etling must have impressed during OTAs and minicamp as it gave Green Bay the confidence to move on from Benkert. But we will see if that was enough for the Packers to anoint Etling as QB3 or if they will bring in some competition for that practice squad role.
