Milwaukee Brewers Outfield Trade Target: David Peralta – Arizona Diamondbacks

The 34-year-old David Peralta is a former Gold Glove winner in the outfield, a Silver Slugger Award recipient, and has led baseball in triples twice in his career, most recently in 2021.

In nine MLB seasons, all of which have been spent in Arizona, Peralta has a .283 average, an .803 OPS, and a 112 OPS+, with the league average being 100. Most recently, Peralta is slashing .245/.314/.448 this season with a 115 OPS+ and nine home runs.

His strikeout rate is on the higher side at 24.2%, according to Fangraphs, while he is walking about 9% of his at-bats–but like Benintendi, Peralta ranks quite well in many of Baseball Savant’s advanced metrics; most notably, he is consistently hitting the ball quite hard this season.

Peralta has spent all season in left field, but as already discussed, whether it be him or another Brewers outfielder already on the roster, that doesn’t mean we wouldn’t see Milwaukee moving players around defensively to make this acquisition work.

This 2022 season marks the final of Peralta’s deal with Arizona, making him a free agent this upcoming offseason. The Brewers would have to take on a pro-rated version of his $8 million base salary.
