Despite the frustration surrounding the Milwaukee Brewers’ hitters and their lack of consistent ability to plate runs, the squad is tied for first place in the NL Central through 70 games. Still, there’s no love lost between fans in the MLB and voting Brewers’ position players to the All-Star game.

The Midsummer Classic, which is just under a month away and set to be held on Tuesday, July 19th, is a nice reprieve for players during the middle of an excruciatingly long season. With each team being represented at the annual event, fans get the opportunity for their voices to be heard via the fan voting portion.

The first ballots were released this week and, unsurprisingly, there was absolutely no love given to Milwaukee’s position players. Still, the lack of support was surprising, as not one Brewers’ hitter was in the top five at their respective position. Rowdy Tellez was the closest, as he registered in sixth place in the initial release.

The Milwaukee Brewers’ position players aren’t getting any love from the fans in the first release of the fan All-Star voting.

It’s not a good look by any means, as the disrespect was across the board. Omar Narvaez and Kolten Wong were a distant ninth at their respective positions, Luis Urias 10th at third base, Willy Adames way behind in 7th, Andrew McCutchen 10th, and Christian Yelich was unsurprisingly the only Brewers’ outfielder in the top 20 at no. 19. Yuck.

Milwaukee’s hitters are not doing themselves any favors with their poor performances at the plate and a growing reputation as a club that relies almost exclusively on their pitching. Despite the struggles and the growing plethora of pitchers landing on the injured list, Milwaukee has found a way to keep its head above water and are tied for first place in the NL Central with the St. Louis Cardinals (something that’s worth mentioning twice). Hopefully, they figure something out as the season progresses.

Still, it’s frustrating to see the same theme continuing at the plate for multiple seasons in a row and it’s apparent the rest of the fans are on the same page when it comes to the Brewers’ position players. It’s left Milwaukee way behind in the first edition of fan All-Star voting (thank goodness Josh Hader and Corbin Burnes are virtual locks for the All-Star game).
