Players Packers were right to move on from: Davante Adams

Green Bay tried to do everything possible to keep Davante Adams–including applying the Franchise Tag and offering him a contract bigger than the one he got from the Raiders. At the end of the day, the Packers realized they couldn’t fit a square peg into a round hole and rightfully moved on from the best wide receiver in franchise history.

This isn’t a story about Adams hating Green Bay or Aaron Rodgers or anything else that has to do with the team. He simply wanted to be closer to his family and saw an opportunity to spend the next portion of his career in a place that benefits both himself and his children. You can’t blame him for that.

Green Bay rightfully understood this and got as much bang for their buck as they could–trading him for a first and a second-round selection. They could’ve held out for more, but it was smart of them to trade Adams, open up the cap space, and get extra draft compensation in the process.
