Packers who need to get off on right foot at minicamp: Josiah Deguara

Josiah Deguara’s roster spot might be safe to begin the season considering Robert Tonyan is still working his way back from a serious knee injury. However, if Deguara wants to earn a permanent spot with the Packers and not find himself on the waiver wire mid-season, he’ll need to show more than he has throughout his first two seasons.

A former third-round pick, Deguara has been underwhelming at best. To be fair, he suffered a major injury that cost him most of his rookie season and was basically getting his feet back under him last year. However, he hasn’t been good enough and the Packers need more from the position. With five capable tight ends on the roster–Tonyan, Marcedes Lewis, Tyler Davis, Dominque Dafnery, and Deguara–it might not be feasible to keep them all.
