Packers on thin ice entering mandatory minicamp: Dean Lowry
Now that we are after June 1st, it could be dangerous territory for Dean Lowry. The Packers have around $17 million in cap space but could increase that by releasing Lowry at any point–a move that would trim about $6 million off their cap.
Lowry had a strong finish to the 2021 campaign which is probably a big reason why he’s still on the roster. If he can continue that level of play, he’ll be a tremendous help this season. The issue is he’s been very up and down throughout his career and hasn’t been able to consistently produce as the coaching staff would hope.
With Kenny Clark leading the charge and the additions of Jarran Reed and first-round pick Devonte Wyatt, this unit figures to be much improved. Add Jack Heflin and TJ Slaton and the Packers might have room to spare with a lineman.
