Surprise cut candidates: Dean Lowry

This has the potential to be one of the biggest surprise cuts this season. Dean Lowry has struggled throughout his tenure in Green Bay and they could save $4 million by cutting him after June 1.

However, Lowry had a terrific second half of last season and is carrying that momentum over into this offseason. Green Bay also lost Tyler Lancaster in free agency and might be difficult to lose two of their top defensive lineman from a year ago.

On the other hand, the Packers added Jack Heflin and T.J. Slaton last year and Devonte Wyatt via the draft this year, as well as Jarran Reed in free agency. That re-commitment to the defensive line may make it easier to release Lowry as a money-saving move.
