Surprise cut candidates: Josiah Deguara

I was a critic of this pick from the moment Josiah Deguara was selected in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft and he hasn’t given many reasons to prove me wrong. It’s unclear exactly what he does well–blocking or receiving–and he hasn’t been able to establish himself on this Packers’ roster.

After a serious leg injury that cost him basically all of his rookie year, he returned to play 16 games in 2021. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to make a positive impact on the field in any aspect. He only accrued 25 receptions for 245 yards and two touchdowns. His blocking wasn’t any better, as he was a horrible pass-blocker and below-average run-blocker. Head coach Matt LaFleur likes his versatility, but it’s time he puts up or he might be put out.
