The Green Bay Packers seemingly make a number of surprise cuts every year when sculpting their final roster that leaves fans scratching their heads and wondering what happened.

That will likely happen again this season as Green Bay is looking to maximize their short Super Bowl window. It will be interesting to see how it plays out, as they are very skilled at the top of their depth chart, but not necessarily deep at most positions. Still, let’s check out five players who are way too early surprise cut candidates.

These five members of the Green Bay Packers could see their world rocked, as they are way too early surprise cut candidates.

Surprise cut candidates: Royce Newman

Royce Newman had a much busier rookie season than anyone expected. The 2021 fourth-round pick ended up starting 16 games and played in all 17. That was due to a number of injuries Green Bay suffered along the offensive line, but give credit to Newman who was solid as well.

However, Newman didn’t seem to improve as the season went along. He continued to struggle with any stunt and was caught completely off guard every single time the defense ran one. The Packers should be getting Elgton Jenkins back to join Josh Myers and Jon Runyan on the interior. The Packers also have Jake Hanson, Rasheed Walker, and Sean Rhyan who can play guard. It will be interesting to see who all makes it out of the preseason on the roster.
