Milwaukee Bucks should find a way to offload George Hill’s contract

Hill had a good run with the Milwaukee Bucks in his first tour of duty. He was marksman from three-point range in the 2019-2020 when he led the league in three-point shooting percentage.

The hope was he could provide that same type of impact in his second tour. He has always been a reliable shooter and defender–that is until this season when Father Time seems to have caught up with Hill.

Hill posted a career-low 30.6 three-point shooting percentage. He posted his second-lowest points per game average with 6.2. He had the worst playoff performance in his career as he averaged just one point per game, making one field goal, and one three-pointer.

Hill battled injuries through most of the season as he played in just 52 games and missed the entire Bulls’ playoff series.

When Hill returned to the rotation in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, he was a non-factor. Carter went to the bench, and the Milwaukee Bucks got next to nothing from Hill.

Hill is due $4 million next season. The Bucks need to find a team willing to take on the last year of his deal. Bleacher Report seems to believe the Memphis Grizzlies would be interested in Hill. Hill may hold some value based on him being on an expiring contract and veteran savvy.

The Milwaukee Bucks could replace Hill by signing Dennis Schroder. Moving on from Hill also opens up playing time for Luca Vildoza. The Argentinan was signed right before the regular season ended. He made his debut during garbage time in Game 3 of the Bulls’ series. While it was during a blowout, he flashed some playmaking ability.

There are just better options internally and externally for the Bucks rotation than George Hill.
