Re-sign Wesley Matthews Jr. and find some more veterans who can shoot and defend to round out the Milwaukee Bucks roster.

Despite a poor Game 7 in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, Matthews had a decent series. His defensive effort against Jayson Tatum in Game 3 was a masterpiece.

The veteran’s early-season signing did not have the P.J. Tucker championship effect, but Matthews still provided solid minutes.

The 36-year-old Matthews is not ready to hang it up. He hopes to be back with the Milwaukee Bucks.

If Middleton was healthy, Matthews probably would not have had to constantly guard Tatum. Chasing a young superstar around the court eventually zapped Matthews’ legs. For the most part, Matthews showed he still has something left in the tank to help a contending team.

He should come at the cost of the veteran minimum.

Losing Middleton in the playoffs also showed the Milwaukee Bucks need to find a few more veterans who can shoot and defend.

Grayson Allen’s defense was exploited in the Celtics’ series. George Hill–we will get to him shortly–provided nothing on offense and defense.

Jevon Carter had a decent playoff run before being benched when Hill returned from an injury. He might be worth bringing back.

The Bucks need to hit on their veteran signings, unlike last offseason when Rodney Hood and Semi Ojeleye did not work out.
