Packers’ regression candidates: Aaron Jones

Running backs have a cruel life in the NFL. They are drafted later and later every year and their shelf life seems to be getting shorter and shorter. In between, they take constant beatings from some of the largest men in the sport and are supposed to stay healthy through it all.

Aaron Jones will be turning 28-years-old this season and has a history of not being able to shoulder a considerable workload due to his lack of durability. Head coach Matt LaFleur has been able to keep him spry by minimizing his workload during the regular season–first with Jamaal Williams and, more recently, with AJ Dillon.

That might be harder to do this season with the lack of capable wide receivers on Green Bay’s roster. Jones and Dillon will be asked to do more with their carries and touches–we’ll see if Jones is up to the task this “late” in his career.
