Green Bay Packers Potential Free Agent Target: Jaquiski Tartt – Safety

With the addition of Quay Walker to play alongside of De’Vondre Campbell, we are likely going to see more two-linebacker sets from the Green Bay Packers, which then decreases the need for a third safety–which in 2021 was Henry Black, who was on the field for nearly 300 snaps.

With that said, Green Bay still needs to figure out who the third safety is going to be, and it’s not as if that role will completely disappear. It’s just going to be reduced somewhat significantly.

The current on the roster options after Darnell Savage and Adrian Amos include Vernon Scott, with 90 career snaps, along with Innis Gaines, Tre Sterling, and Shawn Davis, all of whom have no NFL experience.

Jaquiski Tartt has spent his entire seven-year career in San Francisco, playing almost 1,000 snaps last season. He has spent most of his time lined up as the free safety, which with the Packers would allow Savage to line up in the slot or to play closer to the line of scrimmage, where he has found more success but has box experience as well.

Last season, Tartt allowed just 18 receptions on 32 targets and for only 8.4 yards per catch. He also had one pass breakup, and his 24 stops were the 16th most among all safeties, per PFF.

His most recent contract with San Francisco was a one-year deal worth $1.127 million–so again, very manageable for the Packers.
