Way too early bold predictions for Packers: Lead the NFL in drops

The Packers’ wide receiver position is another area of weakness for this team. Their top five wide receivers, in some order, project to be Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb, Amari Rodgers, Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs. Not great.

Cobb dropped 5.1 percent of his passes in 2021 and Rodgers was at a whopping 12.5 percent on only eight targets (small sample size alert). Watson also struggled with drops over his last two years at North Dakota State and it will be worth watching closely as the season progresses.

Given all of the unknowns at receiver (and at tight end), don’t be surprised to see catching the football become a big issue for the Packers. And don’t be surprised if they lead the NFL in drops or drop percentage as a result.
