Green Bay Packers Offense

Quarterback (2): Aaron Rodgers and Jordan Love

I just don’t see Jordan Love being traded this offseason, and keeping a third quarterback on the 53-man roster doesn’t make much sense to me–that roster spot can be better utilized at a different position. So as they did in 2021, the Green Bay Packers will roster two quarterbacks, Aaron Rodgers, and Jordan Love.

Running back (3): Aaron Jones, AJ Dillon, and Patrick Taylor

PUP List: Kylin Hill

You will see me do the same thing with Robert Tonyan and Elgton Jenkins, but considering that we don’t know where Kylin Hill is at in his recovery from his ACL injury, for this exercise, I will have him start out on the PUP list, so he will not count towards the 53-man roster.

Jones and Dillon make up arguably the best running back duo in football, and while I know many have their eyes on Tyler Goodson, the undrafted rookie from Iowa, I am still going with Patrick Taylor. He is a very good fit for Matt LaFleur’s offense as he’s able to affect both the running and passing games, not to mention that he can hold his own as a blocker as well. And also important, this will be Taylor’s third season in the system.

Wide Receiver (7): Sammy Watkins, Christian Watson, Randall Cobb, Allen Lazard, Amari Rodgers, Romeo Doubs, and Samori Toure

In the past, the Green Bay Packers have kept seven receivers, but that hasn’t been the case recently. In 2020, they would roster just five receivers initially — plus Tyler Ervin as a running back — and last year, they rostered six. However, as we all know, there is much more uncertainty surrounding the receiver room this season, and I anticipate the ball being spread around more, so I’m going to predict that they roster seven–just to give themselves a little added flexibility.

It also wasn’t easy keeping Juwann Winfree off this roster either, but I believe Toure can be a key special teams contributor, specifically as a gunner.

Tight End (4): Marcedes Lewis, Josiah Deguara, Dominique Dafney, and Tyler Davis

PUP List: Robert Tonyan

With Robert Tonyan potentially beginning the season on the PUP list, putting together the tight end room was quite easy. However, the challenge will be once he returns. Dafney has the potential to be a key special teams player, while Brian Gutekunst recently spoke quite highly of Davis, saying, “we have something there.” So does Green Bay keep five tight ends? Or when Tonyan returns, who is the odd man out?

Offensive Line (9): David Bakhtiari, Jon Runyan, Josh Myers, Royce Newman, Yosh Nijman, Sean Rhyan, Zach Tom, Rasheed Walker, Cole Van Lanen

PUP List: Elgton Jenkins

The competition within the offensive line this summer will be intense as there are likely a few starting spots up for grabs, but when it comes to predicting what the roster will look like come Week 1, that was a bit easier. The first seven names listed I would consider locks with Walker and Van Lanen being the two roster spots that you could consider up in the air.

But we know that the Packers like Walker’s potential, and hopefully, Van Lanen can take a big step forward in Year 2. With that said, once Jenkins does return, it will be one of these two players who end up getting cut.
