Did the Green Bay Packers find their return men?
Like pretty much every phase on special teams, the Green Bay Packers’ return units are in need of some help. Amari Rodgers was hesitant and indecisive while returning punts and Malik Taylor just lacked playmaking ability as a kick returner.
But perhaps Green Bay found the answer to each of those issues with their selections of Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs.
Watson was an All-American kick returner at North Dakota State with 26 career attempts and an average of 26.4 yards per return, and as I mentioned already, he possesses 4.36 speed as well.
Doubs, meanwhile, was the punt return man at Nevada, with 37 career attempts, one touchdown, and an impressive average of 12.4 yards per return. Again, as I mentioned previously, he brings playmaking ability to this Packers team, finishing third out of all college receivers in big-play receiving yards in 2020.
Now, there are some injury risks that come with having these roles, and Matt LaFleur will have to take that into consideration when making these decisions. However, if the Green Bay Packers want to upgrade their return units and inject some actual playmaking ability, they have the opportunity to do so with Watson and Doubs.
