7 free agents to push Packers over the top following 2022 NFL Draft
Free agents to push Packers over the top following the Draft: Melvin Ingram, Outside Linebacker
The Packers have their two starting positions locked up with Preston Smith and Rashan Gary, but they desperately need help in their rotation. Many analysts thought they could use an early-round selection on an outside linebacker, but the only pick they invested at the position was their fifth-rounder to select Kinglsey Enagbare.
Melvin Ingram is one of the best outside linebackers remaining in free agency and it would be interesting to see if he’d be willing to accept this role in Green Bay. He would certainly provide the necessary pop the Packers are looking for when Smith and Gary leave the field.
Free agents to push Packers over the top following the Draft: Jerry Hughes, Outside Linebacker
Jerry Hughes is someone Green Bay can likely get on a cheap, one-year deal. At 34-years-old, he has a little bit left in the tank and could fill the Whitney Mercilus’ role from a year ago. He would be a nice addition to the Packers’ outside linebacker group and would easily become their no. 3.
Free agents to push Packers over the top following the Draft: Justin Houston, Edge
All Justin Houston does is produce, even when you count him out. He would be another veteran who could join Green Bay in his quest for a ring. He’s just a shell of his former self but did rack up 4.5 sacks a season ago.
