Cincinnati Bearcats wide receiver Alec Pierce (12) stretches to pull down a touchdown reception over Indiana Hoosiers defensive back Tiawan Mullen (3) in the fourth quarter of the NCAA football game between the Indiana Hoosiers and the Cincinnati Bearcats at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Ind., on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021. Packers Pick 83 (From Philadelphia): Alec Pierce, WR, Cincinnati

Pierce is one of my favorite round three targets for the Packers. The 6 foot 3 inch receiver has the frame to be a matchup problem in the NFL. Similar to our first round choice, Drake London, Pierce can go up and win the contested catches that many receivers cannot. On top of that, he has great speed, especially with his imposing size. After running a 4.41 40-yard dash at the combine, he became an even more enticing prospect.

What Pierce does lack is a crispness in his route running, and an ability to get off a tough press coverage from a physical corner. These things can come as he progresses through his career in the NFL. With some major development in those areas, combined with the frame and elite speed, Pierce can be a problem in the Green and Gold.

Pick 92: Martin Emerson, CB, Miss. St

This pick was my lowest graded selection of the entire mock on the PFF mock draft simulator. Yet, I would be very content if the Packers selected Emerson late in the third round.

He has the size and physical make up to be an impact corner in the league. That being said, he has a long way to go in developing his ball and tackling skills before he can regularly be trusted on the field.

The beauty of the Packers roster makeup is that they can afford using a middle round pick on a corner with potential. There is little to no pressure to make an impact as a CB right away. With Rasual Douglas, Eric Stokes, and Jaire Alexander cemented into the secondary, Emerson would have time to learn and develop.

Lastly, Emerson has experience on special teams, and can play a role in that unit. We all know the absolute disaster it was last season, so any help the Packers can find is needed.

What do you think of this mock? Would you be happy if the first 3 rounds went like this?
