Prediction No. 4: One of these players will be Green Bay Packers

Last week I put together my shortlist of first-round targets for the Green Bay Packers. To do so, I started with over 50 players from The Draft Network’s big board, and using past draft trends and thresholds that the Packers have traditionally stuck to; I whittled that list down to just eight players.

The first trend was that I eliminated any players who played along the interior offensive line, tight end, running back, and linebacker since those are positions that the Green Bay Packers have not targeted within the first round of the draft. I’ll also note, one adjustment I did make was that I did not eliminate any receivers, even though Green Bay doesn’t draft that position in the first round either, because of the need they have. I did, however, cross off any quarterbacks, given the current state of that position.

Next, I would use age as a determining factor. Since 2009, the Packers have not drafted any first-round player who was above 22 years old. I even took it a step further and used 21 years of age as my benchmark since Green Bay has drafted only one 22-year-old since 2015. So, in short, anyone above 21 years old was crossed off the list.

Lastly, the prospects needed to score 8.0 or higher on the RAS scale. Since Gutey took over, he has had 33 draft picks register on the RAS scale and 26 of them have scored above that mark. I would also not include any players within The Draft Network’s top-10, assuming that none of them will be available at pick 22.

So with all of that in mind, my shortlist of first-round targets includes Daxton Hill, Chris Olave, David Ojabo, Trent McDuffie, George Karlaftis, Kaiir Elam, Logan Hall, and George Pickens.
