3 Packers 2-Round Mock Drafts w/ No 1st Round WRs
By Paul Bretl
Green Bay Packers Mock Draft via PFF
Pick 22: Devonte Wyatt, IDL, Georgia
Pick 28: Daxton Hill, S, Michigan
Pick 53: Alec Pierce, WR, Cincinnati
Pick 59: Drake Jackson, Edge, USC
Takeaway: I was still able to land an impact receiver in Round 2 while first continuing to bolster the defensive side of the ball. There is so much about Alec Pierce’s game that screams Green Bay Packers. He will provide them with that needed vertical threat in the passing game, but that certainly isn’t all that he can offer either. Over one-third of Pierce’s targets in 2021 came within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage, and he’s also a very willing run-blocker as well–not to mention that he has the size and athleticism that we know Green Bay covets at the position.
Defensively, I added Wyatt, who will make an immediate impact against the run, and he should be able to affect the passing game with the athleticism he possesses. Another presence inside should also allow Green Bay the opportunity to move Kenny Clark around more as well. Hill will provide a needed third option at safety and an extremely versatile one at that. He also will give the Packers another needed option out of the slot for when Jaire Alexander is lined up on the boundary–which will happen.
Lastly, bolstering the edge depth is a must in this draft, and Drake Jackson will provide a welcomed boost on third downs, obvious passing situations, or when Rashan Gary and Preston Smith aren’t on the field. There was a noticeable drop-off in production at edge rusher when those two weren’t on the field.
