Green Bay Packers positions of need ranked

11. Running back

Running back is right up there with quarterback. Green Bay has arguably the best running back duo in football with Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon—not to mention that we saw flashes from Kylin Hill, who will return at some point. We also got a glimpse of what Patrick Taylor can offer, and as I’ve said before, I think he is a very good fit for this offense.

With that said, I won’t be surprised to see the Packers spend a Day 3 pick on the position. There is the possibility that Jones is playing his final season in Green Bay — the Packers can save $10 million in cap space next offseason by cutting him — and we don’t know when Hill will return. However, the Packers in no way should be spending an early-round pick on the position.

10. Long-snapper

I don’t expect the Green Bay Packers to spend a draft pick on a long snapper — although Brian Gutekunst did draft Hunter Bradley in 2018 — but there needs to be some competition brought in for Steven Wirtel, who was inconsistent at best last season.

I have long-snapper ahead of quarterback and running back because if the Packers don’t add to either of those positions, they’ll be fine, but as just mentioned, competition is needed at long-snapper. However, it comes in behind the other positions because of positional value.

I’ll also briefly mention kicker while we are on the topic of special teams. Mason Crosby has to be better and I do believe there will be a competition this summer, but with three kickers already on the roster, I just don’t see the Packers adding someone new to the mix.
