Green Bay Packers second-round selections

Treash would also dive into Round 2, where he had the Green Bay Packers selecting offensive lineman Zach Tom from Wake Forest at pick 53 and tight end, Trey McBride, from Colorado State at pick 59.

Tom spent his first two seasons at center before playing the last two at left tackle. As a tackle, he would allow only four sacks and 23 total pressures in 835 pass-blocking snaps. As Zierlein notes, however, at the NFL level, he may move back inside where his length will be better suited.

While the Packers should always be looking to add to their offensive line depth, after spending six picks on players perhaps better suited for the interior in the previous two drafts, will they be willing to spend a Day 2 pick on the position, especially after just drafting Josh Myers last year?

Tight end, however, is a major need, with Josiah Deguara as the only tight end under contract in 2023 at the moment. McBride is considered by many the top tight end in this class and would bring a well-rounded skill-set to Green Bay.

Although there is room for improvement, Zierlein writes that McBride can become a true in-line blocking threat. He also possesses the ability to impact the passing game in space as well.

Last season, McBride was targeted 122 times, catching 91 of those passes at 12.4 yards per catch with a touchdown–lining up mostly in-line but also from the slot and out wide. He was also received PFF’s highest blocking grade among all tight ends.

Overall, I am a fan of this draft. Green Bay addresses three of their biggest need, all of whom would contribute right away, and although I question whether or not they will address the interior offensive line in the second round, Tom is a player who could start right away, and as I already mentioned, there is no such thing as too much offensive line depth. In a perfect world, they would have been able to add another receiver, but hopefully the opportunity to do so would present itself later on in this scenario.
