The Green Bay Packers may very well wait until after the 2022 NFL Draft to make a big splash in free agency again, but that won’t stop them from dipping their toes in the shallow end of the pool.

General manager Brian Gutekunst loves to go bargain shopping in free agency and will often sign guys at a discounted price after other teams have passed them up. Using PFF’s projected 2022 salary in their free agent guide, here are five players who are projected to sign for less than $5 million in 2022.

If the Green Bay Packers want to go bargain shopping in free agency, they should look at any of these five remaining free agents.

Bargain free agents Packers should target: Zach Kerr, DL

Zach Kerr is projected to get just over $1 million on his next contract which means Green Bay could take a chance. Yes, they already signed Jarran Reed to bolster their defensive line, but they are still one guy short. Kenny Clark is the only dependable option–Dean Lowry had a strong finish to his 2021 campaign, but there’s no saying if that will carry over and the team doesn’t know what they’ll get out of Jack Heflin and Tedarrell Slaton in Year 2.

Kerr would be in on sure running situations which greatly limits his impact. He’s a big body who can move all over the defensive line and give the Packers a jumbo lineman to throw on the field in short-yardage situations.
