High-risk, high-reward draft prospects for Packers: Boye Mafe, Ed, Minnesota

The Packers need a third edge rusher behind Preston Smith and Rashan Gary and they could target one as early as the first round in this year’s draft. That edge rusher will play a significant role in the rotation and could be groomed to become a full-time starter down the road.

Boye Mafe has been rising on draft boards this year, as he had a great senior campaign at Minnesota. He has great speed and power that he showed off at the Senior Bowl. He’s a raw prospect which means there’s risk he won’t develop as scouts hope. However, he could become a solid addition to the Packers’ defense in to time.
