There are always surprises in the NFL Draft, especially when it comes to the Green Bay Packers. General manager Brian Gutekunst has been very aggressive in the first round, often trading up from his original selection.

Green Bay holds two picks in the first round, as well as two more in the second and five total in the first three rounds. That gives Gutekunst and company a lot of pathways to surprise fans by making an unusual selection.

Let’s take a look at five under-the-radar prospects who the Packers could take in the first round.

The Green Bay Packers could take a long, hard look at any of these five prospects in the 2022 NFL Draft who are flying under the public’s radar.

Under the radar first-round prospects for Packers: Travis Jones, DL, Connecticut

Green Bay has an issue along their defensive line and could look to add more help up front. They already signed Jarran Reed and adding someone like Travis Jones would solidify that position. Jones is ranked 40th on PFF’s Big Board, but is the next defensive lineman after Jordan Davis at no. 20.

He’s a big boy at 6-foot-5 and 333 pounds, and can impact the run and passing games. A front that includes a rotation of Clark, Reed, Dean Lowry and Jones would do wonders for this defense.
