Green Bay Packers Mock Drafts No. 3 & 4

Jack Borowsky – SI

Pick 22: Chris Olave, WR, Ohio State

Pick 28: Alec Pierce, WR, Cincinnati

Takeaway: Olave at 22 is going to be a popular selection for Green Bay–so get used to it. But Alex Pierce at 28 is a new one. Pierce was big-play target at Cincinnati, averaging 17.0 yards per catch over his career and he would help fill that needed role in Green Bay.

He has also shown that he can win underneath as well and Olave’s skill-set coupled with Pierce’s would be a good combination in the Packers do draft two receivers early on. However, at pick 28, that seems like a bit of a reach.

Pick 22: Chris Olave, WR, Ohio State

Pick 28: Boye Mafe, EDGE, Minnesota

Takeaway: More Olave, and I can’t blame these draft analysts either; in my recent mock draft, I also selected Olave at 22. I do love the Boye Mafe pick at 28 as well. The Packers need to upgrade their depth at edge rusher; when Rashan Gary and Preston Smith weren’t on the field last season, there was a lack of impact plays.

Mafe feels like a Green Bay Packers pick–he is a bit raw but is loaded with upside and he tested incredibly well at the combine. The Packers would present Mafe with an ideal scenario for any rookie as he can step in and be a contributor, but he doesn’t have to be “the guy” right away either. Green Bay can bring him along slowly as they did with Gary in 2019.
