Reason Packers should not trade Jordan Love: Cheap quarterback

Love has at least two years remaining on his rookie deal and potentially a third if Green Bay opts to pick up his fifth-year option. His cap hit for 2022 is a measly $3.377 million and is a lowly $3.94 million for 2023. It doesn’t get much better than that.

Although Green Bay could potentially recoup some draft capital, it’s not as if trading Love will save them a bunch of money on their mangled salary cap. He’s a cheap option at a premium position and could be needed to step in if Rodgers goes down with an injury. Other than taking a chance at a rookie, there are no positives to trading Love.
