Packers who need salary cap clarity for 2022 offseason: Davante Adams
Aaron Rodgers reported he is coming back and is in contract negotiations with the Packers. Ian Rapoport reported the deal was for four years and $200 million with $153 million guaranteed. However, both Rodgers and Pat McAfee refuted those numbers, saying there was no deal in place. McAfee even reported it was a “team-friendly” deal–whatever that means. We still need clarity on the exact contract that will be signed and how that will affect this year’s salary cap.
As for Adams, he’s probably not the most excited about Green Bay franchise-tagging him, but it does buy the Packers more time to negotiate a deal. Coming to terms on an extension would be in both side’s best interest, as it would provide Adams with long-term security and the Packers with a likely lower cap hit in 2022.
