The Green Bay Packers have already been busy in the few weeks since the Super Bowl concluded and it’s only going to get busier for them moving forward.

Green Bay was tasked with cutting at least $50 million off their 2022 salary cap before the league season begins in March. So far, they’ve cut about $23 million and there’s still more to come. A lot more.

As the Packers try to get under the cap and create even more room to retain players such as Davante Adams, here are four immediate moves you can expect them to make in the coming days.

The Green Bay Packers are basically guaranteed to make these four immediate moves to continue cutting money from their 2022 salary cap.

Immediate moves for Packers: Cut/pay cut for Randall Cobb

Cobb was acquired via trade from general manager Aaron Rodgers last offseason as a way to ensure Rodgers the Packers were listening to him. However, now it’s time to do something about that contract.

In 12 games last season, Cobb only caught 28 passes for 375 yards and five touchdowns. Although he has a good personal connection with Rodgers, that production isn’t nearly enough to justify his $9.5 million cap hit this year. The Packers have to decide whether to move on from him (saving about $6.8 million in the process) or to restructure his deal (saving up to $3.4 million). Expect them to do one or the other.
