Prediction: The Green Bay Packers re-sign Chandon Sullivan

I know that Chandon Sullivan has taken his lumps with the Green Bay Packers, but the good outweighs the bad. We also saw him take a jump in his second year working with defensive backs coach Jerry Gray, and perhaps another jump could be on the way in Year 3.

Two of the other major factors in my prediction is the state of the cornerback room, and I just don’t expect Sullivan’s contract to cost all that much and be a  reason why Green Bay can’t re-sign him.

Now, that isn’t to say that the Packers shouldn’t try to upgrade the slot corner position, but with Jean-Charles, Ento, and Thomas having only 38 combined defensive snaps, Green Bay isn’t exactly in a position to be turning away a capable slot cornerback in Sullivan who has plenty of experience and knows the system.

I could certainly see Green Bay letting free agency unfold at the cornerback position before making any offer to Sullivan, which of course comes with some risk as it takes only one team to like what they see and offer him a deal, but ultimately, I think he finds his way back for the reasons mentioned.

It hasn’t been talked about as much this offseason, likely because Green Bay does have Alexander and Stokes, but cornerback is a big need this offseason.
