The Milwaukee Brewers could make a trade with the Chicago White Sox to acquire either Gavin Sheets, Andrew Vaughn, or Jake Burger

The Chicago White Sox have three talented young hitters and not enough at-bats to go around. The White Sox could use another arm in their starting rotation.

The Milwaukee Brewers have a couple of starters to deal away. Stearns would be wise to pick up the phone and see what it would take to get one of these three young hitters.

Vaughn’s bat has superstar potential.

Prying Vaughn out of Chicago’s southside might require trading Brandon Woodruff or Freddy Peralta along with prized prospect Ethan Small. It may take a whole lot more. So the chances of trading for Vaughn are highly unlikely. It still cannot hurt to find out what the asking price is to trade for Vaughn.

A more realistic option is trading for Sheets or Burger. The Brewers could dangle Eric Lauer or Adrian Houser to get the Sox interested.

Sheets is a left-handed power bat with tremendous potential. He hit 11 home runs in 54 games—Fangraphs projects he could hit 21 homers this season.

He can play the outfield and first base, so he brings positional versatility that the Brewers covet. Plus, he is under team control through the 2028 season.

Burger is a former Sox first-round pick. He has a history of injuries in the minors, as he missed three seasons. Finally healthy in 2021, Burger hit .274 with 18 home runs in Triple-A.

He flashed some Major League potential in 15 games with the White Sox. He posted 10 hits and a homer.

Fangraphs rates his power at 60, which is the highest rating a player can get. He is still a prospect but one that can be groomed to help the Brewers at the Major League level as all he needs right now is some at-bats. The Brewers DH spot could provide a lot of them.
